Comment on Joel's blog

Dear readers and followers,
I am going to comment on Joel's recent blog post about the Swiss Vandal on the SMRT train.
Blog URL: http://www.jneater.blogspot.com/
I agree with Joel's point of view about this particular case. The Judge wanted all Singaporeans to know that we are NOT to vandalise in Singapore, not in restricted areas. This is reasonable. However, i think that another message that the Judge might wanted to put across is that it is definitely wrong to sneek into prohibited area. I feel that this is the more important message and point to put across. Think of it this way. This time, it is just vandalism, where the paint can be washed away easily. What if, next time, it is a terrorist that wants to bomb the train or train station? Lives cannot be taken back if the terrorist actually bomb and kill many innocent lives. This is where the seriousness of the problem lies, on my point of view. Maybe we should look at this case at another angle. Why not punish SMRT and the security guards on duty for not protedting and putting up enough precautions from preventing intruders from intruding into prohibited area? i mean, after all, it is partially the security guard's fault for not patrolling the enclosed area. Do you guys agree with me?
Overall, Joel I agree with Joel's point of looking at this matter.

Thank you
Cleon
